New Balance Running Shoes

By

New Balance running shoes are a high quality, American made running shoe made with the needs of the individual runner in mind. There are several styles of these shoes made for men, women, and children. Which style you choose will depend on your individual needs, the size and shape of your foot, and your personal preference.

About New Balance

New Balance is a company based in Boston. It began in 1906 as a manufacturer of arch supports, selling its products to those who spent a lot of time on their feet; police officers, waiters, and conductors.

William J. Riley was a 33 year old waiter who knew firsthand the pain of being on your feet all day. He decided to build arch supports that would relieve pain for people who worked on their feet. His product was an instant hit because the design was the best fitting product available and did what he said it would do.

In 1925 Riley designed this first running shoe for the Boston Brown Bag Harriers, a running club. These shoes were very successful and by 1941 New Balance was creating custom made shoes for a variety of sports activities from basketball to boxing.

New Balance Running Shoes: Men's Styles

These are some of the men's styles available. There are hundreds more. Each style has a different focus; some are better on the pavement because of their increased cushioning while others are made from special materials that are resistant to puncture for running on trails.

It is important when choosing the right style for you that you consider your foot, where you run, how often you run, and other variables so that you can choose a shoe that best fits your foot and your individual running needs.

New Balance 993 – This is a high mileage trainer with advanced cushioning in the forefoot to keep you running for miles. These shoes are great for increasing stability on the road. This is best for roadwork.

New Balance 1123 –This shoe helps those with a lower arch by offering maximum motion control, stability, cushioning and durability.

New Balance 1080 -1080 is a running shoe that has plentiful cushioning and great flexibility for ultimate performance.

New Balance 101 – This is an ultra-lightweight trainer with extra protection against trail hazards like rocks and other debris that can puncture the material. This is best for running trails and offroad.

New Balance 498 – A moderately priced shoe with average support and cushioning, the 498 is lightweight.

Women's Styles

Women have unique needs in running shoes. They run differently than men and their weight is distributed differently. No matter what kind of running you do there is a New Balance shoe that is formulated for your needs.

New Balance 740 – A long distance running shoe for women, this lightweight shoe has cushioning in the heel and forefoot and a medial post for pronation control. Pronation contol keeps your run smooth by helping to create an ideal foot strike with every step.

New Balance 1224 – This shoe has mild stability help which keeps your foot from turning inward if you have the tendency to do so. This is also a good shoe for the woman who weighs more than 150 lbs. Most running shoes are created to support less than that weight.

New Balance 663 – This shoe has a breathable mesh upper and is lightweight making it great for runners in warm climates. It is also made with Environmentally Preferred Materials for reduced impact on the environment.

New Balance 579 – 579 is a classic running shoe, pretty and functional. They are great shoes for women with high arches and support long distance running.

More Comfort May Mean You Enjoy Running More

Buying New Balance running shoes will probably not make you into a long distance marathon runner overnight but it may be a first step in being able to run more comfortably. If your run feels better you may make time for it and enjoy it more.

Who knows where that can take you?

Good hub and brand new information for me, because I never heard of this kind of shoe - it's no wonder, I live in Ireland! Though the shoe is a little pricey for my liking it might be worth considering as it has so many benefits. Thanks for the info.

I love these New Balance running shoes, too. Btw, this is my hub New Balance MR1012 – My husband’s Favorites

I just found out that my favorites are made in China and Indonesia, although they are in the same price range as New Balance. I guess that explains the inconsistency in their quality. I know I'll be switching to New Balance. Thanks for an informative hub.
